In a small workshop in Helsinki, Finland, back in 1907, an office machinery mechanic named Emil Hendriksson had a brilliant idea that would change the world of locks and keys forever. Little did he know that his invention, the ABLOY lock and key system, world first Unpickable lock capabilities, but also leave an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals, including my own father.
Emil Hendriksson was a visionary, and his innovative spirit shone brightly as the precision mechanics engineer patented the idea 12 years later and registered the Abloy trademar. As he tinkered with the rotating cylindrical discs of a cash register, he realized their potential as a lock mechanism. This realization birthed the rotating detainer disc system, later known as the ABLOY CLASSIC.

The ABLOY CLASSIC quickly became a benchmark in the world of keying platforms. For 110 years, the locks can’t be picked, making it a trusted choice for securing valuable assets. Despite the passage of time and advancements in technology, the ABLOY CLASSIC system has remained relevant, a testament to Emil Hendriksson’s ingenuity and foresight.
Growing up, I watched my father, a locksmith, ply his trade with great dedication and passion. He took immense pride in his work, but his eyes sparkled with a special gleam whenever he worked with keys. To him, these keys represented not only a superior locking mechanism but also a connection to the legacy of Emil Hendriksson.
