A Father’s Final Lesson: The Importance of Planning Ahead

爸爸的离世，让我明白人生应该早做规划

As we navigate the complex and unpredictable journey of life, there are often moments when we find ourselves at a loss. But in the wake of my father’s passing, I came to understand the importance of planning ahead.

在人生的旅程中，我们常常会遇到令人无助的时刻。但是在我父亲的离世后，我意识到提前规划的重要性。

With remarkable foresight, my father had already made all the necessary arrangements for his final journey. He had purchased a dual storage space in a columbarium, a resting place for his ashes that would serve as a permanent memorial to his life.

Additionally, he had placed his memorial tablet in a Buddhist temple in Singapore, a testament to his faith and enduring legacy.

父亲去世后，我们发现他早已经购买好了墓地和骨灰存放位，甚至还将灵牌放置在了新加坡佛教居士林。这些安排不仅让我们少了很多烦恼，也让我们更加感受到父亲对家庭的爱和关心。

In his will, my father had thoughtfully outlined his wishes for the distribution of his assets. Though he had not prepared a lasting power of attorney, his will provided a roadmap that would guide us through the complexities of his affairs.

此外，父亲还留下了遗嘱，明确了他的意愿和财产分配方案。虽然他没有及时做好永久授权书铁（lasting power of attorney），但是他的遗嘱让我们更加容易分配遗产并处理后事。

As I reflect on my father’s legacy, I am struck by the wisdom of his actions. Like a well-adapted species, he had planned ahead and adapted to the unpredictable nature of life. His example serves as a reminder that we too must prepare ourselves for the uncertainties that lie ahead.

因此，我想说，人生应该早做规划。我们可以购买墓地、写遗嘱、做好授权书，这些虽然不是我们想要去面对的问题，但是它们的存在可以让我们更加从容面对未来的不确定性。
